MOORESTOWN, NJ (December 8, 2009) - In Michigan, it is estimated that a million people in any given year, need help with purchasing food and as a result go to a local emergency food provider for help. Over 400 agencies throughout 22 counties rely on the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan to stock their shelves. This year the agencies are also experiencing anywhere from a 15-40% increase in clients from last year.
As the winter season arrives, utility prices are also on the increase and more people are faced with the difficult choice of heating their homes, or buying food. With community involvement, partnerships and overall support, much can be done to fight hunger and to help our neighbors in need.
To show their support of this most worthy organization, more than a dozen employees of Masco Bath visited the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and received a warm welcome as well as a tour of the facility from Food Bank Vice President Kara Ross and Development Coordinator Tracy Fowler-Johnston.
