Masco Bath employees earn CAPS certification
Four employees have received the coveted CAPS designation from the National Association of Home Builders.
Mike Gorman, Carlene Moloney, Eric Gundersen and Dane Carswell have completed the coursework necessary to be certified by NAHB. Mike is vice president of marketing. Carlene is director of marketing. Eric is marketing products manager. And Dane is engineering manager.
The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry — home modifications for people who want to remain in their homes while they age.
The NAHB Remodelors™ Council developed the program to provide market-specific information about working with older and maturing adults to remodel their homes for aging-in-place. Also working on the program were the AARP, NAHB Research Center, and NAHB Seniors Housing Council.
“Aging-in-place is one of the fastest growing trends in housing,” Mike Gorman said. “Innovative companies are embracing the movement through new products and continuing education. We at Masco Bath are immensely proud of the foresight our employees have shown in earning this designation.”
Aging-in-place means remaining in one's home safely, independently, and comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level. It means the pleasure of living in a familiar environment throughout one's maturing years.
CAPS is a program that teaches the strategies and techniques for marketing, designing, and building aesthetically enriching, barrier-free living environments. The program goes beyond universal design, a term that refers to living spaces and devices that are designed to serve the needs of people of all ages and abilities, to provide insights into how to market to and work with the demographic group.
